The finest little pub in Yorkshire! A terrific warm welcome from the landlord, Christian, who has evidently worked his socks off to ensure that the historical aspect of this famous place - named after perhaps THE most talented and astonishing 18th century Yorkshireman - is adequately preserved. Christian, his lovely partner and their cuddly pet pooch have managed to make the pub a haven for locals, but equally appealing to tourists and visitors. An excellent range of craft beers - and the team take their coffee seriously too. A must-visit .
Great little pub (little being the operative word) serving local craft ales on cask & others from a bit further afield on draft (Wylam when we called in) Took a little while to get served with it being extra busy with the Xmas market on. Well with a visit. Cheers.
My favourite cosy hangout. A fantastic selection of beer and cider. Always treating us to top quality craft beers. The decor is hip and eccentric, yet the space is comfortable and there's plenty of room for decent sized groups and tables are big enough to play board/card games. Perfect!
